ABOUTย CREATIVE YOUTH GROUP
The group is about providing a safe and supported space for High Schoolers who would like to engage in art therapy and develop their creative skills. This group is for young people that are looking for support socially and in their mental health journey. Its facilitated weekly across the school terms, each session is broken down in to two parts:
ART THERAPY
Each week there will be an art therapy process for the young people to engage in, when the process is complete they will be supported in a group reflection to explore what came up for them in the art work from the process. Attending art therapy in a group will give the participants an opportunity to share what is going on for them, receive peer support all while developing socially.
CREATIVE SKILLS
Participants have the freedom to select from multiple art mediums and are encouraged to self navigate their own creative projects. There will be opportunity to learn different skills each week eg.
- Basic hand building skills with clay
- Photography skills using natural light, composition and subject
- Painting
- Printmaking
- Collage
The art mediums available are:
- Clay
- Photography including black and white film
- Painting with acrylic, gouache and water colour
- Print making with cyanotype and Gel Press
WHEN AND WHERE
Term 1 = 9 Weeks –ย Fridays 3:00pm – 5:00pm ย Start date : 3rd of Feb –ย Finish date : 31st March
school times vary, its ok to arrive late
WHATS INCLUDED
Appropriate art supplies are included to explore art mediums listed
There will be additional costs forย photography prints and clay firing, to be determined time of firing.
