How A Private session works
A private art therapy session is not dissimilar to counselling. The client is supported by the practitioner in a safe space as they are guided to work through the circumstances that brought them to engage in the session. However in an art therapy session, clients are directed to engage in appropriate art therapy methods to use as a tool to express, communicate and explore the circumstances further.
It’s encouraged that new clients attend three sessions. The first session is used as an opportunity to go through the intake form together, this is a great opportunity to build rapport and highlight any issues, concerns and goals the client may have. The intake process can take up to two sessions, the third that the participants engage in the full therapeutic process. The sessions go for for 1 hour.
